The what I call, widow-maker rims I would think are more susceptible to the continuous or split rings blowing off from tire blowouts or hitting an object since the ring rides on the rim edge, nothing to hold it. Your right, if the rings aren't properly installed/seated, it becomes a real danger. The split lock ring on the PW rim is designed differently and much safer as a result. Thanks Jerry!
