I watched a few videos on both split ring rims and split rims. I can see how the split rims could be very hazardous.
For those who are still concerned for safety, one method is to mounnt the wheel and tire backward on the drum so the lock ring faces inward and use a locking air chuck to inflate.
Assuming, of course, that you aren't bothered by the crazy weight of theae tires and rims.
