The flathead 4 suffered under Chrysler's thin wall cylinder design. We had to bore the engine and the machinist wouldn't bore it anymore than 60 thousands, said it would have heating issues. Well, it did, couldn't keep it from running a little hot all the time. If we had know then what we found out we would have had it sleeved. My Dad and I were deer hunting one year, driving down a snowy road in 4x4 and all of a sudden the truck makes this big boom and the TC raised up some. We wonder what it was so we stop and put in freewheel, drove a little further with no issues and pulled off at a dam. Checking around under the truck, I found the differential pinion shaft had broke threw the from inspection plate of the Model 25 housing. We had some fun times in that old truck.
