Several years ago the gas engine on my log splitter was replaced with a Baldor electric motor. It has always spun the hydraulic pump crunching the toughest knots.
This morning 'switched her on--nothing.
I don't have an instrument to test the starting capacitors, but got the numbers off them. The brand name ones are very expensive.
eBay's got some 20mfd generics for less than ten bucks each.
Question: Is an exact replacement critical on these type of motors? --or can you just get in the ball park and be back in business?
