Linseed and turpentine sounds good, but one other option to consider, especially if you want a dark or black look, is to do what I did on the W500.
I was at the Iowa Rally with it and it was well received.
I used black Minwax Gel stain and after it dried, a marine spar varnish.
If you use only one coat of the wipe on gel you still see grain.
You could do a test on a piece of scrap white oak and see.
I used 2,coats, but if I were to do it again would do one.
But, my truck is stored in a garage, if it was outside all the time I would go the linseed turpentine route.
