Most of the time it wrks wonderful. Fire the truck up and it limits to around 50 amps for a bit. Then you can see it switch over to volts and it tapers off. Run the RPM down and you ill see it cut to zero, just ass it should.
But -sometimes- you'll be driving along and it'll start jumping around then zoop! hit the Amp limit. For no reason at all. Seems to me its locked its voltage limiter and now riding on the current limiter.
Talked to my older gentleman I know that rebuilds this stuff. He said "No problem. Cut the power and sand the contact points with 200 grit sand paper. I know the voltage contacts look pretty bad, so that went right along with what I wanted to try anyway.
