Strange I pulled that little plug and you could not stick something thru it? I don't remember a hole in the head either? I will look at my picture of it. I do need to mark TDC better on my shinny pulley it is not to clear. I did use a felt tip to mark it on both sides with it in the middle with a 1 inch gap on the lines in the middle. Hard to see clearly down to it.
