Hole is designed for a depth gauge tool that screws into the thread. If (like me) you don't have the mopar tool, use a piece of wire and mark it when it's at TDC, there's your new timing tool. Mark the timing pulley while you're at it (and the pointer), I use "white-out", easy to see, especially with a timing light. Plenty of other good advice as to where #1 is - it's where the rotor points when TDC is correct.
