Can replacing an oil pump effect timing easily?

Can the engine timing be easily effected when replacing the oil pump? I know the distributor and the oil pump mate and that you must put the new oil pump in the same position as the old one so that they can mate. but if you bump the distributor or somehow move it will it change the engine timing? Anything else i might need to know besides priming the pump.
