I have been considering a new Dodge for a while now and have received a great deal of info from this forum.
I never thought to ask about the costs of maintaining a diesel until I read a forum post replying to Gordon Maney's questions about the new diesels.
In one post, Mitch stated that a fuel pump was replaced at a cost of $1300.00. I never had a diesel so that price surprised me to no end. Is that the cost of the parts and labor???
What are some of the other costs to maintain a diesel??? I wonder what a fuel pump will cost. What is the cost of basic maintenance?
ie; oil filters, special oil, tune ups and any thing else you can think of.
Why would these cost be so high for a diesel?
I assume the fuel pump costs for a 5.9 gas motor is nowhere near $1300.00.
What type of gas milege does the gas motor get??
Thank you in advance.
Mark
