Dennis the fuel pump on a diesel is not the same deal as on a gas engine. It is a very sophisticated piece. however it should last at least two hundred and fifty miles minimum. It controls the flow of fuel to each cylinder and pumps at a very high pressure. My 99 Ram 1500 off road package with a 5'9 gets 17 running steady at 70 mph. in town it drops to about 13 depending on how heavy the right foot is. Dean
