Mine was in Good condition so I lubed it and reused it. Still working fine after seven more years.
The rod can be made to fit with a little work if I remember correctly.
That's all Vintage will sell you and tell you what needs to be done.
I was lucky enough to get a very nice reproduction from Sid before he passed away,in case it's needed.
Not sure were you live but here in St Louis there is a place I have since found that makes all kinds of control cables and could also do that one for around $75.00.
