I recently purchased a 1950 WDX truck, wasn't able to drive it for more than a few feet because the rear drive shaft wasn't connected
until today. The truck was siting for about two months, and noticed a growing spot of liquid under it, I suspect that it's the transfer case and/or trany fluid. Well with
the rear drive shaft connected and a gallon of gas we started on the official first drive, The first gear started to scream seconds from
engaging it and quickly shifted into second
I quickly ralized that it wasnt going to take
much longer to place it into third now switching into third I started moving a little
but began to hear a bumping sound, thump thump thump and it became louder and more apparent as I crept up faster. The sound was coming from under the floor panel area and it could be felt so I quicly slowed down to a crawl to avoid causing needless damage.
My question to you is, could this be caused by the trany or transfer case being dry, don't know if it is yet but just wanted to ask.
Feel free to post any sugestions on the cause and possible remedy. Thank you
