A few things you didn't mention which are pretty important:

- how much he wants for the vehicle
- how much money you are willing to invest
- how mechanically inclined you are (can you do your own work with ease, or will it be a struggle/pay someone else to do it)
- how committed you are to originality
- how concerned you are with the vehicles reliability
