I'm sure this is rehashing an old topic, but I haven't found answers to some specific questions that I have, so I'll ask them here.
The 230 engine in the WC-63 I have for the Power Wagon 6x6 project has a bad rod knock, and is non-original (T116 series). If I'm going to have to find and rebuild an engine for this truck, I might as well drop a small block V8 into the chassis. The question for you all is which small block will be best for the project?
I've heard people say that the 350s are good for some things, and the 318/360s are good for others. I'd really like to stay All-Dodge with this project, but I want this to be a simple conversion as well.
My plan for the project is to install a reverse rotation Saginaw power steering gear, and top hung pedals. The transmission will either be an SM465 or an NP420. My concerns are the exhaust manifold interference with the PS gear, the ability to change spark plugs, front and rear engine mounts, and bellhousings.
I'd like to hear what you all know about installing these two engines.
Thanks,
Greg
