rear axle spindle woes - is it replaceable?

After stripping my rear axle it was obviously bent rearward from some mishap in the last 59 years. Can this spindle be replaced or do I need to replace the whole axle houseing? The spindle appears to be welded to the housing, can it be cut out and a new spindle be welded back in?
