Thanks to all who responded to my question about road salt usage. I have a better feel for where I should look for a used vehicle from now on.
I can remember as a kid, living in upstate New York, that no road salt was used. It seemed to me that during that time that although the roads tended to have a layer of hard packed snow on them that driving on them was not a problem. As a matter of fact, I believe that people drove better (more al3rt and skillfully) in those conditions. I sure as heck know that the traction was better than in this mushy slop that remains with the use of road salt.
Sorry, I'm done ranting and raving now! It's just that I grow weary of the misuse and abuse, and adverse effects of this stuff. All for the sake of a booming economy and so junior can get to the 7-11 ,in an instant, at three in the morning.
There I go again!! There has to be a better way!
