I have a `77 M880(runs full time 4wd,) that gets about 10 mpg around town, 12 on the freeway max. I always thought this was the norm. then I read a posting by a guy that said his `83 4wd truck, running the same motor as mine(318,) got about 20 mpg! Is the difference that much between part and full time 4wd? My truck is a 3/4 ton and maybe it's heavier than his if he's running a 1/2 ton. The last possibility I would consider is that the guy doesn't know what he's talking about and he really doesn't get that good of fuel consumption. If any body knows any way I can make any improvements in my fuel mileage, I'd be interested.
