I just bought a 1963 Dodge Power wagon with a in-line 6 cylinder engine. I took it up to the ranch in Northern New Mexico where the house is at 10,600 feet. I am having problems getting the truck to start and I do not want to use starter fluid/spray every time I have to start the truck. My question is do they make a engine Block heater that bolts directly on the engine?
I have done some research and found a couple of different options. One is the oil pane heater pad, which is like a normal heating pad my wife uses. The other is a heater wand type thing that is magnetized. You just stick it directly on the engine block and/or oil pan and leave it until you are ready to start it.
I have also seen Mountable block heater that range from 100 watts to 400 watts. Would these be worth the money or would going cheaper and using the non mounted option suffice?
