I'm just starting to explore epoxy primers, don't know much about the top-coats yet. Talking with alot of the maintenance folks for Royal Caribbean, the epoxy they use is about the best you can get, but not for a good finish coat, up close. Very industrial. But the automotive primers are about the best way to go, if you have deep pockets and alot of time.(and space)I think the epoxy would be the best for your iron work, if you're not to worried about it having some dull spots mixed with shine. It all weathers together over time.
