What about epoxy paints

I use a uv protected two part clear epoxy resin to build surfboards out of. It last forever but it is laminated on to styrofoam with fiberglass. I have heard it bonds to metal well but that is second hand info.

I'm going to paint my new wrough iron work with it and see what happens
