Will elect.ronic ignition give her more power?

Some guys complain that their truck won't go any faster than 40-45 mph.Me one of them.Not going fast enough to even be able to stay in fourth gear.Would electronic ignition give it a little more?I heard of a guy who hooked up the Chrysler orange box some how to his point system on a slant six Dodge Lancer and made the points last three times longer and increased the performance.I don't know how true that is.I don't mind points.Jusy frustrated at being honked at and being told I am number one when I drive the old beast.
