I was having some trouble when I took my first few drives after the resto with activating the Dennan overdrive unit.
After getting input from Mac, my neighbor who is a master mechanic and Dennis Gronan who is the person who sells the units, I got the problem solved.
The overdrive is mounted to its cross members with rubber GM style isolators. Although the truck is very well grounded in general, it turned out I needed to run a seperate ground wire from the unit to the frame.
Once I took the truck back out, wow! No wonder people like these things. It is more like a 2 speed rear as you can get gear splits. In 4th the o.d. really drops the rpm's down nicely.
Plus, as Tom P says it can be removed without too much fuss if you want to go on an extreme off road trail.
I also learned that Mr. Gronan personally tests each unit in his own truck to ensure they are working fine, before he ships them. That is a nice thing to learn...some vendors today do poor quality control yet Dennis tests and then stands behind his product.
