I have been trying to double flare brake lines .My results have been poor. I have 2 flaring tools of what I think are good quality. I follow the directions with the tools, results from both tools are the same. Now I blame the tubing. The flares usually crack at some point in the process. The tubing stock is from the local NAPA store . It has factory flares . I am cutting those pieces to length and flaring the cuts that I make. I have tried sawing the tubes instead of using a tubing cutter . I thought the tube cutter may be work- harding the material. No change. Tube are deburred and chamfered prior to flaring. Any one have a source for tubing? I have seen monel brake tubing it is pricey . What tubing have you guys used with sucess?
