Hi John,
I just went through this a few months ago replacing all the brake lines on my W300. I tried two different flaring sets with the same crappy results. I read on another forum someone suggested the Ridgid Model 33927. Check the link below. I bought my set a Graingers. For the 1/4" tube I was flaring the tool work perfectly. I got a perfect flare the first time I used it and ever one after. The flares look just like the store brought lines with flare on them already. Can't say enough about this set. It was a real life saver for me. Good luck.
