'48 WDX no start

My first time working on a 6 volt positive ground, This is a friend's truck and neither of us has a service manual that old.
It cranks, has power to the coil, power to the distributor, nothing coming out of the center of the coil so nothing at the plugs. My guess is bad coil? Is the wire coming from the distributer supposed to go to the neg of the coil or pos?
