Can this 3rd member crack be repaired?

After pressure washing my rolling chassis Saturday I found something that I wish wasn't there. Now I gotta deal with it because I just can't ignore the thing.
Can this crack in the 3rd member be repaired by welding or brazing or is it best to just find a replacement?
What do you think could cause the cast iron to crack like that?
