I am inclined to agree with Copey. The crack could also have been caused by some of the old gasket left behind. When it was tightened down, uneven force cracked it.
I would take a dremel tool and slightly Vee Grove, also drill a tiny hole in the end of the crack to keep it from spreading. Then fill it with JB-Weld. If it dont leak, and the crack dont spread, I woudl call it good
