I have combat rims on my M37 and my 1941 1/2 ton WC. Combat rims came on the 3/4 ton WC.

I also have had M37 rims on one of my 1941 WC 2/2 ton chassis.

The 3/4 ton Carryall CAME WITH COMBAT RIMS, so whomever returned them claiming they would not fit lied to you. Probably wanted his money back for something else or found a cheaper set.
