Todd,
While I applaud you and your wife being able to improve yourselves and get jobs with health insurance, someone has to be working your wife's old CNA job, right? I doubt the nursing home pays much more now then they did back when she held the job. Not everyone can improve themselves, or nobody would ever wipe Grandma's butt.
Saying deal with it is great for those that have the option, or don't happen to get sick, but what would you be saying now if you had had a serious illness when you were running without insurance? Or if your insurance had found a way to deny your claim?
There is a lot of evidence that our countries lack of universal health care reduces overall productivity, which in and of itself should be a reason to try and get everyone some form of health insurance.
I am not happy with the way it is currently being done, and I am not sure there is a "good" way to do it, but the healthier we keep our population the higher our GDP, and the more competitive we are with other growing economies like China.
The need is there, it is just a matter of finding a way to deal with it.
Eric
