Well one would think so...but if you've ever removed a few, you know that the rivets are jammed in those holes so tight it takes much determination to remove them.
All I'm saying is that if you were restoring a truck...the better job is the one that's still riveted together. It's doubtful the bolted one will ever come apart but it seems like a lot of extra work to make your project inferior in the end....no?
When I removed the rear spring hangers on my W500 & moved them forward, I reemed & bolted them back on with grade 8 bolts. Honestly....I've lost sleep thinking about it & intend to remove the bolts & rivet them when I get time. If you slacken the nuts...there's still a small amount of movement in the shackle when twisted back & forth. This means the only thing stopping that bracket from twisting is the friction from the nuts & washers.
It's probably me just being way fussy but it's not as good & that's why frames are riveted.
But ultimately taking a frame all apart & bolting it...it's never going to come apart...it's just going to look silly & be worthless to a collector down the road...in my kooky canuck opinion :)
