My '69 W500 has 27000 miles and is very tight and quiet on the road. Lately when driving in four wheel drive on snowy or icy roads, when I let up on the fuel I can hear a growling noise that seems to be coming from the forward part of the truck. It does not make this noise in 2 wheel drive, so I believe it is either coming from the front drive axle or from the transfer case. The noise is not present under load, only on deceleration. I think it's a bearing in the front end. I just don't know which one would cause the noise on deceleration. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. JH
