I have been working where people have been tested for 21 years now. I can say the quality of people has greatly increased. Drug testing does not prevent anyone from doing what they want to do on their free time, it prevents them from being employed where they could be hurt or injure others. An employer should have the right to establish whatever qualifications he chooses.
As far as the reliabilitiy of the tests they are very sofisticated and can tell whether the result is a false positive or not. I have seen many people poppped over the years but never somebody who wasn't guilty.
As an employee I have a right to expect my work place to be a safe enviorment and my employer has an obligation to provide such.
