I needed three 3x10 (full dimension) x 12' long doug fir timbers to match the old floor joists in my building. In the big city, what would it take to get an odd size like that? Yesterday afternoon I went down to the local mill, told him what I needed, and he called this morning to tell me they were done. I picked them up, the dimensions were exactly right, the length was a couple inches over, and there was no bark, wane, loose knot, split or pitch pocket anywhere in them.
