to change to a top bearing. But it does make a significantly noticeable difference in knuckle 'rotation' force. Keep in mind if you do make this modification, the knuckle torque 'rotation' specs NO LONGER apply. There is NO spec for knuckle 'rotation' torque with a top bearing, but it will be in inch pounds. The bearings must be preloaded, but not to much or to little. Its all a matter of experience/feel.
We know bearings have a preload design spec. But we dont have any way to measure torque vs preload to achieve that bearing preload spec. That would take engineering laboratory equipment. It would not be prudent for anyone to give a torque preload spec without engineering laboratory tests to verify the bearing preload. So, its all a matter of feel.
