I agree that eveyones 'feel' is different. Thats why I mentioned that 'my' feel and a measured torque spec is not a absolute accurate number for preload.
I dont have the TM's you mention for the WC.
However, I do have a Dodge Shop manual for Power Wagon. The Shop manual gives a torque spec, knuckle swing ( no universal drive assembly and oil seal assembly removed) of 25 to 27.5 foot pounds. This spec in the shop manual is for a lower bearing and top bushing. Not a bearing/bearing.
When I did the Bumblebee's Knuckles with Bearing/Bearing, I did tighten for a knuckle swing torque spec of 25-27.5 foot pounds.
I could quickly feel that this was way to tight on the bearing/bearing. I then went to what I consider as a proper 'feel' and the swing felt proper. Since then, over the past few years, I have read the same from many people doing this conversion.....its a matter of experience and feel. I think we must agree to dis-agree on this.
