Hi Kaegi,
I double checked the Ordnance Supply Catalog dated August 15, 1944 (ORD 9, SNL G502) and the bearings are correct. The 3/4 WC cups (CC# 927013, BOW-BT-23256, BCA# 23256) are consistent with the FFPW parts book of 1956. The FFPW upper bronze cone bearing is (CC# 1270396) and that was not listed as the upper bearing in the supply catalog for the WC’s. If you look at figure 10-1, it clearing shows tappered rollers. In looking at the first two lines, it clearly shows (BOW-BT-23100) as the mfr. bearing number. Don't know what else anyone would need to indicate that the 23100 is the correct bearing.
The TM 9-1808B covering the 3/4 & 1.5 Ton WC is dated November 17, 1943.
The TM 9-808 covering the 3/4 Ton WC is dated January 1944.
If I had a scanner, I would be more than happy to post the appropriate pages. If Paul K. is reading these posts, perhaps he can verify this.
As for me, there is no doubt which bearing is correct and what the required pre-load feet lbs. should be for the steering knuckle flange bearings.
Bearing number 23100 verified at the Timken web site - CONE, not cup
