Rear Differential Help Needed

'58 W300M:

I'm working at disassembling the rear axle housing and transferring the differential innards into the donor axle housing. The whole rear axle is out of the truck. How do I remove the nut from the pinion at the flange? Or was that something I should have done with the rear wheels on the ground for leverage? Are they standard or reverse threads on the pinion? Any other advise along the way?
