OT bodywork advice

I need to have the rusted-out roof of my 1991 CTD removed and a donor roof installed. I have the donor pickup, a 1987 150.

The estimate to do the work, from soup to nuts is $3500. I was a little shocked to hear that amount, for a truck that's 16 years old, and worth about $8000.

Anybody have a better idea about how to proceed, other than Do-it-yourself, which I am not capable of doing?
