The job does not involve any glass work.
The roof is severely rusted just above the windshield. It was a typical problem that year, something about moisture getting between the sandwiched metal at the front of the roof.
There is minimal rust anywhere else on the truck. They used a galvanized undercoat (primer) and except for little dings, the body is rust-free.
I admit I know nothing about body work, but it seems that slicing off the top of the cab and rewelding/griding, it shouldn't take too long. (Maybe a day?) At $100 per hour, that's $800. Add another day for bondo and prep, $800. Paint, say another $500?
It doesn't have to look like a new truck, I just don't want to wear a diving mask when driving in the rain.
