US/Canada Customs Question..

Oh wise men (and women) of the power wagon community:

I have arranged to trade a power wagon for a carryall with a gentleman from Buffalo, NY. I currently have my truck in Detroit, MI. It is a 4 hour drive bewteen if we go through Canada to make the trade and 8 hours if we stay in the US. Neither truck has a title. We would like to meet halfway in between and make the swap. Is there anyway that we will be successful without major headaches? Who is familiar with this procedure?
