Thanks for your time guys!!
Let me first set my objective here so you know ahead of time where I'm trying to go with this. I am staring with a pretty original 1957 K6-W300 Power Wagon. My objective is to drive it on the freeway as well as occassional 4 wheeling.
Here is what I envision:
Engine: 400 horse power (Obtainable with 350?)
Tranny: Auto with over drive
Xfer: 2 speed (trying to retain that low end torque)
Now, having stated all that, I realize that this will take modifcations and cash. So, where do I start. I decided to try and set a budget vs. time frame as I take care of the cosmetics for now. I am prepared to put forth $5K-$7K to get this truck done the way I want it but I need help in understanding my options, trade offs, prices, vendors and other resources which will be required to help me reach my objective. I won't say that money is not a consideration because I certainly won't be beating this truck back in the woods even when I go 4 wheeling and I'm not looking to recoop an investment later. Although I suspect if the new Dodge Power Wagon is excepted our trucks will increase in value, buy em up now guys!
As you may have noticed from my postings I am engauged in locating replacement body parts and a cross member. My hope is to have if drivable this summer and by then have a solid plan and budget for the repower next winter. I promise many pics and showings once I achieve my objective.
I look forward to working with all of you in my rebuild.
Sincere thanks to everyone,
Jeff Barnett
