I mentioned the Big Block option in response to your wish for 400 HP.
The original flat 6 is like 110 HP. If you want to make decent power, build a small block (318,360,340) to make good tourqe, and keep the horsepower in the resonable range(200-250?).
That way you will have an easier time making everything work, and you will get decent relability.
Just my thoughts. My '64 W100 with 4:10's and a bone stock 318 wide block, makes plenty of power(for most things), and the door tag claims 168HP!
