First, MOST of the Iraqis don't hate us, you watch to much CNN, only the people who find themselves out of power, want their minority run dictatorship back. My friend was in the 4th ID for 11 months in Iraq {he wishes he could go back}, the general population is happy Sadam is GONE. 99.9% of the insurgents are "out of towners" hoping to turn Iraq, after we cut and run if you get your way, into the next Taliban/Afganistan type country. Apparently you haven't heard of the letter from Ossama to Zarcowi pretty much laying that out. Outting Sadam was about WMD's, Slick Willy was all over getting Sadam's WMD's but was too much chicken and NO hawk to do it himself. NOT cutting and running is about NOT repeating 9/11, we take off now my kids will have to either finish what we failed to in their generation or be terrorized by the new Taliban/Al quita orginazation.
My generation paying for Viet Nam??? How about the 2000+ service members who have died while the insergents wait us out because that is how it worked with Hanoi Jane and all her friends in Viet Nam. Cutting and running in Viet Nam wrote the book on how to beat the Americans, Somolia was the second chapter. As far as I'm concerned, that story stops now.
What's important? My kids don't have to worry about where that terrorist who is training in the new "terrorist training camp wonderland" of a cut and run Iraq, is going to hit. That's what is important! Are you willing to save a few lives today to only have another 3500 die when the terrorists hit the next big target. Maybe if Slick Willie would have done something earlier with Afganistan, 9/11 wouldn't have happened.
The only reason people like France and Russia wouldn't do anything in the beginning was because they were getting rich off from the sanctions against Iraq. What more could you wish for, no economic compitition, because nobody is suppose to be trading with Iraq. See also; oil for food scandal, you want to talk about who buddied up with oil. And the the reason that they wouldn't do anything after the liberation of Iraq is because we wouldn't cut big contracts with the French because they wouldn't help with the liberation.
