Oh Dear Lord, make it stop. Murtha is right and here is the litmus test: If you think he is wrong go down to the recruiter and sign yourself up and if you are too old sign up your first born child (put your money where your mouth is...) Murtha is right.
We did not cut and run in Vietnam, it was Nixon and Linebacker Ops followed by the idea of Vietnamization (total failure). We are tryng to do the same in Iraq. The problem is the Iraqis will not be able to lead themselves out of this matter as Saddam has managed to kill all of the natural leadership (as well as any industry beyond oil, including farming). The Vietnam war did the same for us (last 16 years of presidential leaders have been draft dodgers). I did my time in the Big Suck and I did not enjoy nor understood the reasons for being there. The biggest disappointment is the refusal to learn from the Vietnam war (see Weinberger doctrine or more popularly known as the Powell doctrine). I like Murtha and he is right. This war is very politically sensitive as it based on psuedo-Gulf of Tonkin resolution argument (WMDs). An example is the reluctance for campaign medals for Iraq and Afghanistan but rather a Global War on terrorism medal cause the troops wanted this way (Rumsfield was qouted with the Chairman of the JCS). Cool, with that same logic I will wait for my War on Drugs medal. If you have not served like that REMF Rush Limbaugh, go back to your prescription medicine. I have lost too many friends and for what, higher fuel prices, the Govt running a deficit (making my money in the bank less valuable) and this deficit is what my children shall be paying for years to come. Man, I am pissed. Murthas a good man and should be heard.
