No spark,.. Help! (OT AC tractor)

O.K. heres the problem, My '59 Allis Chalmers Backhoe is only firing on 3 cylinders. #1 will not spark. I've replaced the points, condensor, cap, plugs, checked the plug wires. A new rotor is on order, but I dont think that's the problem.
Heres the head scratcher. When I pull the #1 plug out and lay it on the side of the block, it sparks just fine. Install it, where it belongs, no spark at all. wont even register a bit on a timing light.
What gives?
