Can Heat from Sun Break a Wind Sheild??

I am having my Wind Sheild fixed today on my truck! Yesterday I noticed it was just broke?? Has a S-Shaped break from top to bottom and it was just parked. Nothing over or close that could have hit it except maybe a bird. Can the Hot Sun when the window rolled up do this? Never just had one break for no reason befor. A $325.00 repair makes me wonder why it happen!! Mark H.
