One of the Rangers that patrols the High Peak region is also an avid Backpacker. He was backpacking with his dog and ran across 3 people making camp at Indian Falls. They were cutting small trees and littering. In a friendly way he tried to explain that no one can cut live trees and how to camp softly without leaving a trace. They got abussive, finally threatened him with violence. The Backpacking Ranger left, hiked out over 6 miles. He changed into his uniform and full equipment and hiked back in 6 miles. They were all arrested and hiked them back out the 6 miles cuffed together thru some wicked rough mountain country. And to even make matters worse, they had driven a distance on a old logging road into the Wild Forever Area. Yup, Out of State'ers, but they were educated quickly, and became guests of the State, Ha Ha Ha .
