I see a lot of the same in the Seattle area. They are saving money by putting monkeys behind the counter that ask questions and look on the computer. If you can not provide a year and a model they are lost. This is especially true if you get a vehicle that is too old for their books. NAPA I find, at least in this area, have good solid people who know what they are doing and are older than 30. Gone are the days where you can walk in and saw I need a set of brushes for my Chev starter and watch the guy go back to the shelf and pick out the right set without looking at a book. I will say one thing in defense of the counter jocks today, They have so many different manufactures and vehicles to know that the guys of 20 to 40 years ago. Also the big 3 are changing more often and using many more parts than in the past.
