Oil Pressure question

Hello Gurus,

I have a '47 WDX with the original 230 flathead. The engine runs, but needs
some work. One of my biggest concerns is the oil pressure. When I first
start the truck, it sits right around 50 PSI or so. As the engine warms up
however, it drops to near zero at an idle. (This is all according to the
gage in the cab. I haven't tried hooking up a different gage yet.)

Any idea why the change as the engine heats up? Any other pointers would be
nice.

I got the truck about a year ago and just now got it to the point where I
could drive it on the road. I had run it a few times during the year, but
never enough to find this problem. I changed the oil and filter before
really driving on the road, and had to take about 2 1/2 inches of sludge
out of the bottom of the oil filter canister. The first trip down the road
that really got things warmed up was when I found the pressure issue. I have
changed the oil a once more hoping to flush out any other crud that might
have been in the engine from sitting.

I am using 30 weight non-detergent oil right now. (Figuring that if it used
to have ND oil I didn't want to put detergent oil in.)

Thanks in advance.
